CCM-L is a free online medical educational forum for members to share their knowledge and questions with each other. By joining and using this email list, members agree they will comply with the following rules:

1. CCM-L is focussed on critical care medicine. If you wish to consult the list on a current active patient, please put the term ‘Current Case’ or ‘Active Patient’ in the Subject of your message followed by a brief description and you will get rapid responses from your colleagues. For example, use a subject heading like ‘Current case: Head trauma patient with active abdo bleed?’ Please maintain patient confidentiality at all times.

2. To maintain our focus, topics not directly related to critical care are discouraged during weekdays but more broad ranging discussions may occur on weekends. CCM-L is an international list so promotion of strong partisan (party-oriented) political views are discouraged as well as certain other highly polarising topics.

3. Do not make postings that breach any intellectual property rights law, including posting material protected by any copyright statement without the permission of the copyright owner or use any words, logos or other marks that would infringe upon the trademark, service mark, certification mark, or other intellectual property rights of the owners of such materials without the express permission of such owners. In short: CCM-L is not a forum for sharing copyrighted medical journal articles! We have consulted copyright lawyers on this issue. If you share copyrighted material via CCM-L, you will be banned from CCM-L and you may face major lawsuits and fines from the copyright owners.

4. We have also consulted copyright lawyers on this issue. We must require that you do not post requests for access to copyright material to this list. If you solicit the sharing of copyright material via CCM-L, you will be banned from CCM-L and you may face major lawsuits and fines from the copyright owners.

5. The forum Moderators cannot actively monitor every post made to the list for inappropriate conduct and do not undertake editorial control of postings. However, if any inappropriate posting is brought to the Moderator's attention, they have the right to take any and all reasonable and appropriate actions, at their own discretion.

6. CCM-L is not responsible for the opinions and information posted on this site by members; postings represent the viewpoint of the writer and are not endorsed by CCM-L.

7. All posts to this list are considered private communications to list members. If you wish to share any content outside this list, you must obtain permission directly from all individuals who made contributions to the content you wish to share.

8. Always be polite. Flame wars, insults and other forms of impolite behaviour will lead to gentle public Moderation. To indicate that list members need to attend to guidance from a Moderator, the subject of the email will be marked as *Moderation*. If determined appropriate by the majority of Moderators, an official caution may also be administered to individuals in private.

9. Persistent violations of these rules requiring multiple cautions will lead to a ban. Any form of overt harassment, discrimination, abusive conduct or retaliation in kind may also lead to a ban. Bans may be temporary or permanent, as determined by majority decision of the Moderators.

10. CCM-L does not advertise or promote external entities, activities or commercial products. Please do not contact us asking for access to our membership list for advertising, market research, surveys or event promotions. Under certain circumstances, CCM-L may help support members' own academic (non-commercial) research projects, surveys or events. Members should contact the Moderators to better understand these circumstances before engaging in any promotional activity regarding your research projects, surveys or events using CCM-L.

Adding a fiter to gmail to move ccm-list mail to Forums Tab:

This process goes one step beyond 'drag and drop' training of filters. It is only relevant to gmail used via any web browser.

1. Log in to your Gmail account and click an email from the sender.

2. Click "More" (the three verticle dots icon on right, beside date) and select "Filter Messages Like These." A filter box appears with the sender's email address automatically filled in.

3. Click "Filter messages like this."

4. In the pop-up box, type CCM-List@academichealthscience.net in the 'Has the words' field then click 'create filter'. Delete the sender's name from the From field.

5. From the next box, choose Categorize as: and choose the category 'Forums'.

6. Click Create filter.

If you can't see a Forums tab beside the Social or Promotions tab in your main inbox view:

1. Click Settings (gear icon, top right).

2. Choose See all settings.

3. Choose the Inbox option.

4. Tick the Forums box next to Categories.

5. Select Save Changes (at bottom of page).
